Staying Connected Technology Training grants are intended to provide funds for public library staff training in the area of technology.
Who is Eligible?
Public library staff who assist the public in using the Library’s technology, who troubleshoot and provide technical support for the technology, or who train others (staff or public) in the use of Library technology. The staff member should be a permanent library employee who works at least 20 hours per week.
What Training is eligible?
Examples of eligible training: Courses in computer technical support, web site design and support, the use of software; conferences, events, and programs dealing with technology; online courses dealing with technology and technology support.
The Grant will be 85% of training costs, including registration, testing, lodging, and transportation costs.
Responsibilities of the Library
1 – An Application must be submitted for each staff member for each technology training opportunity desired.
2 – The Library will be required to contribute 15% toward the total cost of the technology training including registration, testing, lodging, and transportation.
3 – Training must begin within 4 months of the award notification.
4 – Invoices and proof of attendance must be submitted within 60 days following the completion of training. Library will be required to pay for training and will be reimbursed by Gates Staying Connected Funds.
3 – After completing the training, the staff member will be required to evaluate the training received.
