Gates "Staying Connected" Grant

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation's U.S. Library Program has awarded the Utah State Library $108,880 to sustain and expand public access computing in Utah's Public Libraries.

Technology Training Grants

Hardware Upgrades / Replacement

Funds are provided to Utah Public Libraries to reimburse for the purchase of internet-accessible computers. Priority is given to libraries serving lower income communities, and to libraries that have public access computers that are 5 years old or over.

The following libraries have received reimbursements for computers:

Ephraim (1/06)
Logan (3/06)
Milford (1/06)
Price (3/06)
Richmond (1/06)
San Juan (1/06)
Smithfield (1/06)

Internet Connectivity Upgrades

Funds are provided to improve internet connectivity at public libraries, and to establish internet connectivity on County Bookmobile Libraries.
