Library-Related Organizations


  • CLAU - The Children's Literature Association of Utah (CLAU) is a volunteer organization of individuals who have a personal or professional interest in children's literature. The organization's purposes are: to encourage the reading, study, and writing of children's literature; to provide a forum for all points of view and levels of experience in children's books; and to gather and share information about children's literature.


  • REFORMA - REFORMA de Utah is a chapter of the national REFORMA organization, an affiliate of the American Library Association. It?s purpose is to improve the full spectrum of library and information services for the 22.3 million Latinos residing in the U.S. The chapter, REFORMA de Utah, can help libraries in the following areas: translation assistance, training, collection development and information about vendors of Spanish language materials, programming, outreach to the Spanish speaking and Latino populations (Children, YA?s, Adults), promotional strategies, idea sharing, and recruitment.   • SLA - Special Libraries Association, Rocky Mountain Chapter. The Special Libraries Association serves more than 12,000 innovative information professionals in 83 countries. Its members include corporate, academic and government information specialists and their strategic partners.


  • UALC - The Utah Academic Library Consortium (UALC) was established in 1971 and consists of all public and private academic libraries in accredited institutions of higher education in the State of Utah. The purpose of UALC is to cooperate in continually improving the availability and delivery of library and information services to the higher education community, to the State of Utah, and to partner libraries in Nevada.


  • UELMA - The mission of the Utah Educational Library Media Association is to provide professional support, leadership and enrichment for school library media educators, associates and programs.


  • ULA - The mission of the Utah Library Association is to serve the professional development and educational needs of its members and to provide leadership and direction in developing and improving library and information services in the state.


  • MPLA - A twelve state association of librarians, library paraprofessionals and friends of libraries in Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming. Its purpose is to promote the development of librarians and libraries by providing significant educational and networking opportunities.


  • Utah Humanities Council - The Utah Humanities Council provides lifelong learning through programs that explore diverse traditions, values, and ideas. UHC's programs help us understand the past, participate fully in the present, and actively shape the future.


  • Utah Health Sciences Consortium - The Utah Health Sciences Library Consortium strives to improve health care through a cooperative network of health sciences libraries in Utah. This includes fostering and developing resource sharing, professional networking, and standards to assure quality in the provision of health information services.
  • COSLA An independent organization of the chief officers of state and territorial agencies designated as the state library administrative agency and responsible for statewide library development.
