A valid access code is required to borrow materials.
Contact the Information Resources Program to register for an access code.
- Search the State Library's Online Catalog - first. Remember, you must have a specific title to make an interlibrary loan request. When you find a title you want to borrow, place your request directly from the item's catalog record. Look for the "Request Item" button and enter your library's access code. In the "Comments" box on the Request Confirmation screen, fill in the patron?s name and phone number and press "Request" to complete this transaction.
- To request materials from another library, other than the State Library, go to the Interlibrary Loan Title Request Form. You may also access this form while searching the State Library Online Catalog. Click on the "ILL" tab located across the top menu bar.
- For subject requests (you do not have a specific title in mind) or for reference assistance (you cannot find an answer using the resources in your library), please use the Reference Request Form. A reference librarian will give your request personal attention and follow through with an ILL request if appropriate.
- To renew materials borrowed from the State Library's collection, go to the online catalog and choose the "My Account" tab. Enter your library access code and login. Select the link to "Items Out-See and Renew Currently Checked Out Items". If you have difficulty using this particular feature, please call the Information Resources Department, 1-800-433-1479 and a staff member will take your request for renewals.
- To renew materials borrowed from a library other than the State Library, use the Interlibrary Loan Request Form and fill in the renewal information. Note: Items borrowed from other libraries willl have an IL# which is clearly marked on the item. Materials borrowed from the State Library will not have an IL #.
- Return materials borrowed from other libraries directly to the owning library. When materials have been mailed from your library, it is essential to fill out the Interlibrary Loan Status Reporting Form so that the State Library can update records in the national lending database.
