Congratulations to Highland City Library for earning the 2024 Quality Library Award! This is a major recognition for Utah libraries that show exceptional dedication and service to their communities.
Opening in 2008 with a collection of 25,000 books, this library now offers over 40,000 items and 200,000 ebooks and audiobooks through the Beehive Library Consortium. Patrons also have access to a wealth of information through Utah’s Online Library, which includes everything from World Book Encyclopedia and NASA Space Place for students, to information on home improvement, car repair, and entrepreneurship for adults.

Highland City Library is one of the smallest libraries in the state, but that doesn’t impact their service. Their staff is dedicated to providing fun and engaging programs for patrons of all ages, including a STEM lab for children, the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program, a Young Writers Group for ages nine to eighteen, and a “Dungeons & Dragons” workshop for teens and adults. Their impact on the community shines through in the heartfelt stories from patrons and photos on their website.
”The Highland Library is a bustling hub of activity,” says Merrily Cannon, the Utah State Library Division’s development director. “The staff have found ways to make the most out of their space and resources and have created a much-needed place for connecting, fun, and learning in their community.”
“Being a Quality Library means that, although we are small, we are providing our patrons with the best library services and resources in the state,” says Library Director Donna Cardon.
