Spotlight on Success: Key Achievements from the Utah State Library in FY 2025

We are excited to share a summary of the significant achievements and progress made by the Utah State Library during Fiscal Year 2025. These successes underscore our commitment to expanding access, supporting local libraries, and ensuring that all Utahns have the resources they need to thrive.

Expanding Access for the Blind and Disabled Community

Utah State Library Program for the Blind and Disabled is a crucial resource, and we are thrilled with its impact this year.

  • A Focus on Digital Content: Our commitment extends into the digital age with our dedicated podcast studio where we record Utah Libraries Have You Covered, our podcast for the Blind and Disabled community.
  • 95 Titles Recorded: Through the dedicated efforts of more than 30 volunteers and our unique partnership with the Utah Department of Corrections, we successfully recorded 95 titles (books and magazines) that were previously unavailable. A huge thank you to the volunteers who lend their voices to make literature accessible to those with print disabilities.
Reconnecting Communities Through Bookmobile Service

We believe library services should reach every corner of our state.

  • Service Reinstated: We are proud to announce the reinstatement of Bookmobile service to several communities, including Eureka City, Goshen, and Genola in Utah County.
  • Supporting Local Efforts: Meeting face-to-face with community leaders, such as those in north Sanpete County, allows us to better understand their needs and support their ongoing efforts to provide local library services.
Strengthening Our Public Libraries Statewide

Utah’s robust libraries reflect the deep commitment and dedication of library professionals across the state.

  • 100% Recertification: Every one of Utah’s 60 public libraries successfully passed the annual recertification process for FY 2025, demonstrating their adherence to state standards.
  • Record-Breaking Recognition: Most notably, a record-breaking 28 public libraries were recognized with the prestigious Quality Library Award for their outstanding service. This achievement truly underscores the dedication and quality of our local library professionals.
The Beehive Library Consortium

The Beehive Library Consortium, provided through the Libby app, saw 7,262,952 checkouts during fiscal year 2025, making it the 12th-highest circulating Libby library in the world.

By the numbers:

  • 4,526,123 eAudiobook Checkouts (62% of all checkouts)
  • 2,267,206 eBook Checkouts (31% of all checkouts)
  • 469,339 eMagazine Checkouts (7% of all checkouts)

These accomplishments are a testament to the hard work of our staff, the passion of our volunteers, and the strong partnerships we maintain statewide. We look forward to continuing this important work in the coming year.
