Thanks to your local library, monitoring your heart health is much easier.
Telehealth is an efficient and practical solution for many people. Online doctor appointments are a great time saver – especially if you have mobility or transportation issues, or live in a rural area. Unfortunately, not everyone has the tools to share blood pressure numbers or their temperature with their physician. That’s where your library can help.
“Everyone has a heart, and we all have a need for health.”
Katie Larsen, Utah State Library cataloger
Utah State Library Cataloger Katie Larsen and American Heart Association Community Impact Director Catherine Wisniewski are passionate about bringing health resources to Utahns. This joint effort makes telehealth and blood pressure monitoring kits available for checkout at your local library for free. You just need a library card. Our kits include a thermometer, a fingertip pulse oximeter, and a blood pressure monitor – all the resources and tools needed to track and share your numbers with healthcare providers in person or virtually.
Our telehealth kits will empower library patrons to be health advocates for themselves and their families. Funded by a Library Services and Technology Act grant with additional funds from The American Heart Association, this project was inspired by the 2022 Libraries with Heart pilot program in San Bernardino, California.
