For State Employees
Requesting Materials
State agencies and employees have full access to Utah's Online Public Library databases and the physical collections at the Utah State Library with their State Library card. To access Libby, you must use a card from your local public library. To request an item from our collection, employees may simply search our online catalog and place a hold on any item. If that item is currently available, it will be pulled by our circulation staff and sent to the requestor’s office through state mail. If the item is not currently available, it will be sent to the requester as soon as it comes available.
If you can’t find what you’re looking for, contact our State Agency Librarian for reference assistance or to request an interlibrary loan.
Library Card
Utah state employees must complete the application form to request a library card from the Utah State Library. You must use your utah.gov or utcourts.gov email address to apply.
NOTE: You must use a card from your local public library to access Libby.
Outreach
The library also conducts outreach activities that are designed to connect state agencies and their employees with the many free resources and services available through the Utah State Library. As part of the outreach initiative, you can arrange a time for a Utah State Library representative to visit your agency or department to register employees for library cards and explain how the resources can be accessed 24/7 from work or home.
GROUP PRESENTATIONS
Presentations can be tailored to meet your research needs and staffing situations. These offerings can be part of a staff meeting or at a prearranged time and location for interested employees.
INDIVIDUAL TRAINING
Additionally, if employees are interested in individual training on using the online catalog, accessing the research databases, or any of our electronic collections, please contact us to set up an outreach visit. Most individual training sessions can be done at the employee’s desk or virtually (depending on location) and last between 15 to 30 minutes
